Buenos Aires, February 15th 2007 – AGEERA, Argentina Association of Electric Power Generation Companies, has informed the electric power generation growth index numbers, which determined a 5,3% increase in 2006 towards 2005, having reached a energy production record in most of the country’s power plants.
This vital resource for the country was obtained from a combination of the following: thermal generation 52,2%, hydroelectric generation 39,5%, nuclear generation 6,5%, the remainder 1,8% was imported.
Likewise, the second day of the current month, a peak ok 17517 MW was registered.
When Engineer Rubén Turienzo, AGEERA’s president, was asked he stated that “the reached generation records show that the electric sector is moving along the line of the favorable evolution of the country’s economy”, highlighting “the joint effort of most of the power plants and the Administration Sector to build two new FONINVEMEM power plants”.
Finally, on 2006 electricity generation he added that “an important task was fulfilled and these results show, once again, the sector’s engagement. The efficiency and availability of our power plants and the 300 million pesos investment in maintenance during this year have coped with the growing electricity demand”.
